It used to be said that you had 7 seconds to grab your customer on the web.

Personally, I think that that period has shrunk to a lot less then 7 seconds now. I regularly bounce straight off sites after only a couple of seconds, with an immediate impression of the company in question.

So, how long do you think that "window of opportunity" is, and what is it, that you can put in place, to ensure that you capture those clients.

It really depends on the net it is slightly different in the essence that you need to make the site visually pleasing and the text to the point with a good message to captivate the reader.

I have always had about 7-9 seconds on the phone to engage the prospect but on the net I would not like to hazard a guess.

I have myself visited a lot of sites that have been very unappealing in the space of milli seconds and clicked back but I think it is down to a number of factors.

I hope this helps

Regards

Hi
Don't forget too that many people will arrive at websites through the search engines. Therefore you need to be sure the landing page is completely relevant to their search. It will increase bounce rates if users don't arrive at the very product or service that they just searched for.

Keep your clicks down too. The more clicks between the entry page and the conversion stage, the more you will see people dropping out of the process before they hit that all important "BUY NOW" button!

Use your analytics to track it all and you will soon see where your problem areas are!

That is the beauty of the internet: It is all trackable and quantifiable

Cheers

Toni

I would say you have 3-4 seconds. The attention span for individual pages is less as more information becomes available and we sub-consciously now makes quicker decisions to be able to ifnd what we want. Maybe even lower than 3 seconds.

Generally speaking, I only look at sites I want or need to - a lot of that depends on the description in the search engine results. I suppose in that way my attention is only there for as long as it takes me to glance at the Google listing...

3/4 seconds maybe? But get me past there and I could be bouncing around your site for ages

Your site's appearance will define the exact time of attracting the viewers.. So it may be <or> 7secs...

I think web design is key. If it looks scrappy and not well presented, it's close the browser time!

It really vary site to site, if your site have something appealing that convince a customer to stay there only then it is possible and customer will visit that site next time also otherwise it is not useful

I believe that if the content is robust enough, the user will remain engaged for longer. There is no other alternative to that.

Furthermore, the earlier advice on landing page, making the meta description user friendly (as users see that on the search engine page) and keeping a tab on analytics is very important.

I also believe that the design is the best key to attract customers for just seconds. If the design looks nice and appealing, the customers will be become interested to explore its content to know more about its offered services or products... But if it's not, there's a tendency that the visitor will just close the window and look for some other site..

I believe that it is actually less than 7 seconds to attract a new customer. Customer is attracted by the good presentation of the web site, its unique and creative content. and strong navigation and clear description of the services the site provides.
